Precision spectroscopy with tritium - Chances and challenges
Dr. Valentin Hermann, Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Institute of Astroparticle Physics, Tritium Lab Karlsruhe, Karlsruhe, Germany
Recent efforts at the Tritium Laboratory Karlsruhe have opened a new field in precision spectroscopy of tritium-substituted molecules, with FTIR studies of tritiated water carried out alongside collaborative projects in CARS and NICE-OHMS spectroscopy with the LaserLaB Amsterdam. Precision measurements of these species allow for refined potential energy surfaces, improved process monitoring for fusion applications, and, with future projects, a deeper understanding of radiochemical processes and more accurate determinations of fundamental constants.
