Study programs, stays abroad, physics as a minor subject, student advice
With 21 professors, around 100 employees and the courses in physics and medical physics, physics is a lively subject at the mathematics and natural science faculty of the HHU, in which there is a good atmosphere between students and teachers.
This winter semester, the physical colloquium will again take place in attendance. The colloquium always takes place on the days mentioned in the program at 4:30 p.m. in lecture hall 5J. The colloquium is open to all interested parties and is ideal for looking beyond the box of your own research.
For the fifth time, the Physics Research Institute at Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf (HHU) has honored excellent students from their two bachelor's degree programs in Physics and Medical Physics. The scholarships are endowed with 200 euros per month.
The winners (Jan Ehlen, Erik Christ, Leah Adam, Christian Pedain) started their studies in the summer semester 2021 or in the winter semester 2021/22. They had achieved excellent academic results in their first year of study.
The scholarships are awarded based on the examination results in the four basic modules Analysis I or Linear Algebra I, Experimental Mechanics, Mathematical Methods I and Optics. This time, one female and three male students will receive a monthly grant of 200 euros for a period of one year in recognition of their exceptional academic success.
The selection committee included Prof. Dr. Dagmar Bruss, Prof. Dr. Thomas Heinzel, Prof. Dr. Carsten Müller and Prof. Dr. George Pretzler. The Dean of Studies of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Prof. Dr. Axel Gorlitz.
The Department of Physics at Bergische Universität Wuppertal, together with the Scientific Institute for Physics at Heinrich Heine University, annually awards the Wilhelm and Else Heraeus Dissertation Prize, which is supported by the Wilhelm and Else Heraeus Foundation. The best dissertation in physics is selected in a competition.
The best applicants selected by a jury are invited to a decision-making colloquium where they can present their scientific work and compete for the prize. Here, too, a jury decides who can take the prize home with them.
The final seminar is held in presence. All talks are also streamed online. If you would like to attend the seminar online, please send an email to .
